It's official; Cazorla signs for Arsenal

Finally!

Thank the god almighty for finally relieving my “f5” key from the incessant pounding it has received these past few days.

It is with great delight that I can confirm (via Arsenal.com) the third signing of the summer; Santi Cazorla. Signing what is believed to be a four year contract and for a fee ranging from £12.65m and £20m depending on you believe. I however couldn’t care less and will give you the official line of undisclosed fee which quite frankly makes no difference.

He is a quality player who can greatly benefit the team and is likely to play in the advanced playmaker role. He is a two time European Champion with Spain and helped Malaga to a place in the Champions League last season.

In what could prove an absolute bargain we have a player that is very much in tune with the Arsenal way of playing and is a proven success. He has made 48 appearances in a Spanish player blessed with supreme talent, so much so that one of the players of our season last year, Mikel Arteta is nowhere near the team and will likely never receive a cap.

He said:

"The Club has one of the best managers in football and their style of play is recognised and admired all over the world.
I'm so excited to be joining one of the greatest teams in Europe and also in the Premier League. I will do my best to help Arsenal challenge for trophies and make all the supporters happy."
He was one of only 4 players to make over 1000 passes in the attacking third in la liga last season. Here is what @OptaJose had to say:
“3 – Three players made over 1000 passes in the final third in LigaBBVA 11/12: Messi (1303), Xavi (1101) and Cazorla (1037). Brains”
http://www.whoscored.com/ rates his performances the fourth best in la liga behind only, Xavi (3), Ronaldo (2) and Messi (1). Incredible really, especially when considering the number of world class players he is ranked above, including a certain Cesc. The same site also has him in the La Liga best XI, one of only two players not from the big two.

This is truly exciting news and I can’t help but get a little tingly all over. In addition to the early additions of Podolski and Giroud you have to say that this summer is certainly shaping up nicely. You would have to call this ambition, wouldn’t you?

Good day to all of you!

GoonerVerse.
